You shouldn't hate it when people just write "great story" or the like, it means that they took the time to read your fic and decided to tell you about their appreciation. That alone is a kind act, you shouldn't shun it. Of course, a concrit that points out all the good and bad is better, but that doesn't make a simple sign of appreciation less good.
What is annoying, however, is when people only tells you that it sucks and doesn't say why. Worse when you ask them why and they get offended.
And I don't think there's anything to never ever write again. Anything will has its meaning to be in the right context. Else why do we have badfic contests and mockbuster films?
